USSC to Vote on Retroactivity of Certain 2023 Amendments

August 14, 2023

On August 24, 2023, the United States Sentencing Commission will vote to determine with certain Amendments to the United States Sentencing Guidelines will be applied retroactively. The new amendments provide for a limitation on so called “status points” and for offenders with zero criminal history points. The Commission obtained comments in July 2023 and will vote on August 24, 2023. If the Commission applies these amendments retroactively a large number of federal inmates will be able to request their sentencing court for a reduction in their sentence.
